Blog Post 5: Reflection on Conscience

"But that's always the way; it don't make no difference whether you do right or wrong, a person's conscience ain't got no sense, and just goes for him anyway."

It doesn’t matter if you choose the right or wrong thing to do, your conscience doesn’t matter. I don’t agree with this quote because it does matter if you choose the right or wrong thing to do. If you pick the wrong thing it can result in hurting other even if you didn’t mean to.

Huck’s conscience influenced him when he decides that it would be best to tell Miss Watson about her runaway nigger Jim. I think that, that was a good decision because then she could stop worrying about where he might be and she might be able to help free him. Another time Huck’s conscience influences him is when he decides to lie to the duke and say that he seen the nigger’s go into their room several times. I don’t agree with that decision I would have told him the truth even if it meant I would get myself into trouble. Another time Huck’s conscience influences him is when he lies and says a whole bunch of stuff about England. I don’t agree with that decision because I would of told them I knew nothing about England.

My conscience got the best of me when I made the right decision to stay home and do my homework while the rest of my family went out to dinner. That decision was difficult because family I hadn’t seen in a long time would be there. The homework I had to do was a 50 point project and was worth a lot of my grade and I knew if I went with them I would get in trouble later on for not turning the project in on time.
